Before you start
Entry requirements
- Minimum age: 18 years old
- Prior certification: Sailboat Skipper (or equivalent experience)
- Basic navigation knowledge recommended
- Physically fit to perform onboard duties
- Valid passport or government issued ID

Course program
Advanced Yacht Handling
- Sail trim and balance for varying wind and sea conditions
- Docking and manoeuvring large yachts under sail and engine
- Anchoring securely in different seabeds
Advanced Navigation and Passage Planning
- Route planning for day and night coastal passages
- Chartwork, tides, currents, and weather systems
- GPS, radar, and electronic navigation tools
Safety and Emergency Management
- Fire drills, rigging failures, and onboard emergencies
- Man overboard recovery on larger yachts
- Emergency communication procedures (VHF/DSC)
Crew Leadership and Management
- Roles and responsibilities of the skipper
- Effective teamwork and communication onboard
- Passenger and crew safety management
International COLREGS and Communication
- Rules of the road at skipper level
- Lights, shapes, and sound signals
- VHF communication with international ports and authorities
Assessment
- Written exam
- Practical exam
